The Mission of the American Association of Latin Orthopedic Surgeons (AALOS) is to improve the quality and accessibility of Orthopedic health care for the Hispanic Population in the USA.
Our efforts are aimed at improving cultural competency in the orthopedic profession and mentoring Hispanic students who aspire to become orthopedic surgeons. We strongly support efforts to diversify the profession of orthopedic surgery so that the cultural demographics of orthopedic surgery mirror the population of the USA.
The American Association of Latino Orthopaedic Surgeons has been a source of mentorship, belonging, and inspiration for my future career as orthopaedic surgeon. As a son of Mexican immigrants, I have always relied on mentorship during my path. This organization has introduced me to mentors who share my culture and native language. Our similar life experiences remind me that I belong in this field. Being in an organization that radiates Latino excellence is truly an honor. Witnessing the tremendous impact of this organization inspires me to continue down this noble path to serve my Latino community. Being a member of AALOS has brought me so many opportunities that have truly changed my future career trajectory in orthopaedic surgery. This organization has served as my biggest advocate during my medical training. I will be forever proud to be a member and look forward to my future involvement in AALOS.
